Donation to Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

The University of Chicago Business School Club of Japan (Chicago Booth Alumni Club of Japan) is the Japan chapter the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago Booth) alumni network. Chicago Japan Club is a student group of Chicago Booth. Chicago Booth Alumni Club of Japan and Chicago Japan Club are soliciting donations for people in Japan who are suffering from the earthquake that struck northern Japan on Friday, 11 March 2011.

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Sendai, Japan (approximately 200 miles from Tokyo), causing massive damage and potentially 15,000 casualties or more. This earthquake created tsunami waves of up to 10 meters (33 ft), and swept across some parts of Japan, taking out towns, buildings, and pretty much everything in its path. Fires burned out of control. Power to a cooling system at a nuclear power plant was knocked out, forcing thousands to flee. A boat was caught in the vortex of a whirlpool at sea.

Survivors and victims require a huge amount of support to provide relief and long term recovery efforts. If you want to help them, please donate to Japan Earthquake and Tsunami now.

You may make your contribution by clicking on the Acteva link and making a personal transaction. Any amount is greatly appreciated. All donations made through this site will be transferred to Chicago Booth account, and Chicago Japan Club will plan to donate all of contribution to Japanese Red Cross to support relief efforts for the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

We would like to thank you all for your support in our fundraising efforts for the Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. Our fundraising efforts raised $32,825.22 in total. We will send all contributions to Japanese Red Cross.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
